About and Experience

My name is Niamh Owens, I am a BAMT and HCPC registered Music Therapist, and Music Practitioner. I currently cater to clients from all over the world online, as well as in-person in west Dublin area. I offer individual and group Music Psychotherapy sessions, Music Therapy skill sharing workshops, as well as Online Music Services.

I have experience in an array of clinical and community settings. My work as a Music Therapist has included Elderly Dementia Care, Adult Mental Health, Children with Complex Needs and Trauma, as well as international music therapy skill-sharing projects (Chiang Mai, Thailand 2019-2020).

I completed my MA Music Therapy at the University of Roehampton London (2017). Prior to this, I obtained an International Bachelor of Music Degree at the National University of Ireland, Maynooth (2011). I have also enjoyed personal studies, receiving a Diploma with the London College of Music for ‘Classical Vocal Performance’ (2013). Over the past 10 years I have worked with both children and adults with a wide range of additional and complex needs. These have included and expanded beyond my role as a music therapist, including working as a carer, social facilitator, special needs assistant, music teacher, and performer.

I have a client-led approach, tailoring sessions to the individual’s strengths, needs and abilities. I believe in offering a safe, non-judgemental, and confidential therapeutic space where the client can have the opportunity to meet their best potential. Providing the environment to work on key areas of personal development with the focus on sustainable change and growth.
