Music And Social Skills Workshop 

Music can be such a powerful way to connect with children and motivate them to work on social skills. This workshop will teach you easy-to-learn songs, activities and techniques to make learning and practicing social skills fun and motivating! In this workshop, you will learn how to use music to help improve:

  • Greetings and Goodbyes

  • Imitation

  • Sharing

  • Building peer awareness

  • Interpersonal skills through group play

  • Joint attention and anticipation

  • Speech/communication

  • Building on sustained attention and ability to wait

  • Identification of emotions

  • Following directions and turn taking

  • Eye contact

  • Transitions

This workshop is directed towards parents and professionals who would like to gain confidence in using valuable music skills to work towards therapeutic goals with children. There is no previous musical experience required, the purpose of the workshop is to empower you with the skills to use music within interactions with children with special needs. These skills can aid you in forming relationships with children and aiding them in building on relationships skills with others. 

Workshops are interactive so you will get ‘hands on’ experience as well as receive a comprehensive list of resources and references.
